I personally love the use of seasonal flavors such as cranberry and orange in some classic cocktail recipes. But cold beverages can still warm us up – eggnog mixed with a healthy dose of whiskey or brandy provides that “Kentucky Hug” every time. Not only do we prepare a made-from-scratch, bourbon-infused dessert, but also a signature bourbon cocktail each evening. For a New York Sour add 1/2 ounce full bodied red wine gently to the top of the fully prepared whiskey sour.Cocktails, anyone?! Our "Sips & Sweets" happy hour is one of the highlights of the guest experience here at Chateau Bourbon.Then add the ice and shake again before straining into a glass filled with ice. Add the whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup, and an egg white to a cocktail shaker without ice and shake to combine (dry shake). I really prefer them without it but the Boston sour is something that everyone should experience. My new favorite is Four Roses Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. Always use good quality whiskey or bourbon.If desired garnish with an orange slice, lemon slice, and cherry. Once the simple syrup has fully cooled add the whiskey, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. If just making a few whiskey sours simply go 1/2 cup of each. Therefore I usually store about 1/2 of the mixture for a couple weeks down the road or for another cocktail using simple syrup. I usually do 1 cup of each which will make quite a few whiskey sours. Start by making some simple syrup which is simply equal amounts water and granulated sugar simmered on the stove until the sugar dissolves. This drink, Appletini, Tequila Sunrise, and Grapefruit Margaritas are just a few of our favorite refreshing spring and summer adult beverages. Whether conversing with neighbors or just watching the sun go down they are always enjoyable. We love a good cold refreshing drink every now and then.
